Stumptown AC Opens NISA Fall Season Saturday at Chattanooga FC

Coach Rod Underwood to Build on Successful Inaugural Season with Revised Roster

Stumptown AC was clearly happy with the surprise success of its inaugural season as it brings back the key parts of the roster for the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) fall season opener Saturday at Chattanooga. The 7:30 p.m. ET match will be streamed on web-based ElevenSports.com (https://elevensports.com/en/view/event/ckrxcn4110ngk0gd1sze908to).

Standout performer Luis Garcia Sosa leads the return of 15 players first pulled together in April. A strong 1-1-1 showing the spring Legends Cup was followed up by a single-loss 4-3-1 spring season that landed them third in the table…just missing the playoffs.

"Last season was gratifying, but it also was last season,” says Underwood. “We know our strengths and we know what we need to do to improve. I think the whole community is with us in expecting more…in expecting the top of the table."

Chattanooga started the 2021 spring season with a lot of energy, losing to Detroit City FC in the Legends Cup final and earning an automatic berth in the spring semi-final. The rest of its spring wasn’t as successful, finishing sixth with a 2-2-4 record. But the club is finding its form again with a 3-0 record in NISA’s Independent Cup tournament outscoring opponents 10-0.
