Stumptown AC Wins Third Game In A Row

Matthews, NC -- Stumptown AC completed its season sweep of New Amsterdam FC club with a hard-fought 1-0 shutout Saturday night at the Matthews SportsPlex. Colin Stripling rocketed a left-footed volley into the back of the net in the 11th minute for the lone goal in the match. Stumptown improves to 4-3-3 while NAFC falls to 3-1-5 in the NISA Fall 2021 season.

Stumptown kept NAFC on their heels in the first 45 minutes of action including a shot on goal by Alex McGrath in the 21st minute.

New Amsterdam's best chances came in the first 15 minutes of the second half when a header sailed over the net in the 50th minute. NAFC had a trio of corners that they were unable to convert thanks to strong play in the box from Kevin Gonzalez and the Stumps defense

Gonzalez kept a clean sheet for the second straight match and fourth of the season. The surging Stumps, with the maximum nine points in their last three matches, pulled within a point of LA Force for second place in the NISA table.

The goal by Stripling with his second of the season.

Stumptown AC and the Force will square off in a home-and-home series to start October as the teams look to reach the top of the table. Stumptown heads to the West Coast for an October 2nd clash in Los Angeles and the two teams will return to the Matthews SportsPlex on October 9th.
