Red Hot Stumptown AC Set for Re-Match Against LA Force

MATTHEWS, NC – The hottest team in NISA returns to action Saturday evening at the Matthews SportsPlex to face-off in the return leg of a two-game series against LA Force when Stumptown AC will take the field in front of their home fans. Stumptown is the only team in the NISA table to have avoided defeat over the last four weeks.

This weekend’s tilt pits two sides that played one of the most memorable games of 2021 in Orange County last Saturday. In a game that featured half a dozen yellow cards, two red cards and saw the Stumps playing 9-on-11 for over down two goals, to finishing in a 2-2 draw, fans are in store for something special in the rematch.

Looking at the season standings, Stumptown AC has its work cut out with aspirations of climbing the ladder to win the stand-alone NISA Fall 2021 Championship title. They have played league-leaders Detroit City FC once on the road, snapping a 51-week unbeaten run, but will need help slowing down DCFC who sits in first with 26 points. LA Force is alone in second place with 17 points, while there is a logjam above the middle of the table with Cal United, Michigan and Stumptown all on 16 points, separated only by goal differential.

Gaining momentum as a season progresses looks to the be the hallmark of Stumptown AC, with the team moving up the table in the NISA Spring 2021 season, finishing on a five-game unbeaten streak to miss the Championship Match by just a single spot. With the last month unbeaten and a similar run of form between now and late November, the Stumps are primed for another shot at a title bid.
