MATTHEWS, NC – Stumptown AC will begin an immediate national search for the next head coach of its professional team as previous sporting director and head coach Rod Underwood moves on from the organization. Underwood was announced this afternoon as the next head coach for NISA regional rival Chattanooga FC.
Club President, Alex Kantor, when asked about Underwood expressed that “Stumptown AC was fortunate to work with coach Underwood for the 2021 NISA Spring and Fall seasons, accomplishing a number of our goals both on the field and in the community.” Kantor added “we wish coach Underwood the best of luck in his future endeavors, unless it’s the games against us of course, and we are grateful for the time he spent here in Matthews.”
With the 2021 NISA Fall season wrapping up over the last few weeks and the organization reflecting on our accomplishments, while also setting a course for 2022 and the move to a spring-to-fall schedule, the club will immediately begin the search for the next head coach of the team.
“Our goal to build a first-class community-based club in the southern suburbs of the Charlotte-metro area remain unchanged, and we will look to align those goals off the field with a highly competitive side on the pitch, and that starts at the top” explained Kantor.
