Zanin Mahic came to the United States in 1997 with his family after leaving Bosnia & Hercegovina due to the dissolution of Yugoslavia. He pursued the American Dream of getting his degree and began playing collegiate soccer at West Valley College in 2010. Two years later, he was awarded conference MVP, 1st team all-conference and received an athletic scholarship to attend Sonoma State University. After finishing his season and graduating from Sonoma State in 2015, he went on to play for HNK ?apljina a team that competes in the Bosnian 2nd division where he made 14 appearances for the club. Zanin heard about the Michigan Stars from a good friend and wanted to help build the brand from the ground up. He’s looking forward to making an impact on the field along with making contributions to the local community through soccer camps and local philanthropies.
